We’ve launched!

The Stroke Sisterhood is finally LIVE and I can BREATHE (or overthink myself into oblivion – it could go either way) and for the occasion I’m wearing my wonderful Style for Stroke tee! The Stroke Sisterhood is a concept that came to mind many moons ago and only through self persuasion has it materialised into a reality; one I hope will become an integral addition to your stroke badge of honour.

This platform was built from scratch, on the basis of perseverance and inspiration to create something that will make a difference and to be quite honest I can’t believe I’ve managed to complete an entire website all by myself only based on the ideas whirling around my head, the triumph I envisioned, many frustrating late nights, next to no design experience and being an ultimate novice trying to figure out the ins and outs of coding.

After a periodic sequence of blood, sweat and tears, plenty of cursing, a few meltdowns and pain flares in between, and more time spent on Canva than with my own family, my baby has been delivered to the world! Exactly a month on from the date of the unofficial announcement on Instagram (befittingly on World Stroke Day) – The Stoke Sisterhood is ready to explore and immerse yourself in. I’ve made the site as accessible and inclusive as possible and anything you need to know about should be visible to you on there. If not, do give me a shout as there’s bound to be some kind of messing up somewhere — this is the clumsiest person alive speaking here!

I honestly have no idea where this will go, whether it will be a hit nor what direction it’ll head in, and that prospect alone is slightly terrifying, as is putting it out there to the public and maintaining it, but I’ve put so much time, effort and care into this – so much so I’ve had to put a backburner on my own duties – and I truly do hope only great things will follow. I really want you to get something out of this – to find support, solace and peace of mind –  because my only mission is to reach out to more young women and girls affected by stroke, from survivors to carers and friends and family, allow you to share your stories and air your concerns, develop a space where you can feel safe and seen and feel assured we’re there for one another.

No matter which way it goes, I’m forcing myself to be proud of taking the step and just going for it. It’s an achievement done with the right intentions and I pray you perceive it that way too.

Any support will be instrumental to the growth of The Stroke Sisterhood, so please do share and network with whoever you think would benefit from this club. It will be majorly appreciated and can lead the way to change. Change is one C highlighted in our mantra but there’s 4 others on our homepage. We stand for Connection, Conversation, Consolation, and Celebration, so put your party hat on as it’s going to be one hell of a revolution!

All my love.
